Krabi is located 814 kms. from Bangkok along Highway No.4 via Phetchahuri, Prachuap Kiri Khan, Chumphon, Ranong and Phangnga. Five kilometres before the township area the highway is parallel to Krabi River featuring the very beautiful scenery of a river flowing between two mountain ranges. Krabi is located on the coastline of the Indian Ocean bordering on Amphoe Phra Saeng of Surat Thani and Tah Put of Phangnga to the north, Trang and Andaman Sea to the south, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Trang to the east and Phangnga and Andaman Sea to the west.

Krabi occupies an area of 4,708 square kilometres, administratively divided into 7 Amphoes and 1 King Amphoe: Muang, Ao Luk, Khao Phanom, Khlong Thorn, Ko Lanta, Plai Phraya, Lam Thap and King Amphoe Nua Khlong. The general geographic condition is mountains, hills, plains and more than 30 small islands off the coast. The still pristine jungles include white mangrove and mangrove forests. The soil is mostly sandy clay and rich loam, perfect for rubber, palm, cashew nut, coffee and coconut plantations.

Hat Noppharat Thara - Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park located in the areas of Tambon Nong Thale, Tambon Saithai, Tambon Ao Nang and Tambon Pal Nam, Amphoe Muang Krabi. The National Park contains:

Hat Noppharat Thara, a famous and very beautiful beach, which is lined with pine trees and coconut groves.

Ao Nang is located approximately 6 kms. from Hat Noppharat Thara. There are 83 small islands in the bay having various sizes and shapes. A boat trip for a sightseeing tour can be arranged through Ao Nang Village. The attractions in Ao Nang are Hat Rai Le, Hat Phranaeg, Tham Phranang,Sa Phranang,Ko Poda and Ko Thap.

Su San Hoi (or Fossil Shell Beach)
Currents have carried a tremendous number of shells of various types to the seashore in Amphoe Muang. They have piled up a large size bed of shells which is estimated to be 75 million years old.

Mu Ko Phi Phi is comprised of six islands (Ko Phi Phi Don, Ko Phi Phi Le, Ko Bida Nok, Ko Bida Nai, Ko Yung and Ko Phai) which lie some distance off the coast-line. The superb scenery of the islands includes high hills with jutting cliffs surrounded by beaches of silvery sand and emerald green sea. Hiding underneath the sea are a bank of coral reefs and colourful marine life which are unrivalled in this whole wide area.

Phi Phi offers many attractions:
Tham Viking is a large cave full of birds'nests, as well as, ancient colour paintings of Vikings' boats which gives the cave its exotic name. Other attractions are Ao Pi Le and Ao Lo Sa Ma, which are suitable for scuba diving, andAo Maya, a white sandy beach.

Khao Phanom Bencha National Park covers an area of 50.12 square kilometres including some parts of Amphoe Ao Luk, Amphoe Khao Phanom and Amphoe Muang. It lies some 20 kms. from town along the old market road to Ban Huai To. Its marvellous scenery is enhanced by streams, waterfalls and wild animals. The park's major attractions are: Huai To Waterfall, Tham Khao Phung, Huai Sade Waterfall, Khlong Haeng Waterfall and Ton Han Waterfall.

Than Bokkhorani National Park is situated in Amphoe Ao Luk, some 45 kms. from Krabi town and covers an area of 121 square kilometres. Major attractions in the area of the park are:

Than Bokkhorani is located near the National Park's Office. It is a pond surrounded with shady forest. Nearby is a copy of Buddha's footprint carved from wood and a shrine of Chao Pho To Yuan - To Chong .

Tham Lot and Tham Phi Hua To caves are located in Tha Yang Canal, Tambon Ao Luk Tai, Amphoe Ao Luk. The location is on the route to Leam Sak. This is a 2 kms. laterite road where another 1.5 kms. access road branches off on the right hand side to Tha Bo Tho pier. There a 20 minute boat trip can be made to both caves. Inside the Phi Hua To Cave, prehistoric paintings can be seen. Beautiful stalactite and stalagmite formations are located in Tham Lot. A boat can run through this cave.

Tham Phet (or Diamond Cave) is located in Amphoe Ao Luk, having beautiful stalactite and stalagmite formations. When light is shown on them, the reflection appears like diamonds sparking.

Tham Phra is 3 kms. from Ao Luk market. It contains a very old Buddha image which was later braced by two other equal-sized images and smaller wooden images round the base.

Tham Song Phi Nong (or Tham Pun Nua-Tai) is to the west of Tham Phi Hua To. Inside are human skeletons, pottery remains, earrings and bronze bracelets.

Ko Thalu A 45-metre hill is in the centre of the island with a 30 metres wide hole in it. A large number of swallows nest on the island.

Mu Ko Hong is comprised of large and small islands including Ko Kong (or Ko Lao Pi Le), Ko Laka (or Ko Saka), Ko Lao Riam and Ko Pak Ka. Ko Hong is the largest island. This limestone island has a beach and coral reefs and both deep and shallow water levels. To get to the islands takes about 1 hour by boat from Ao Nang.
There are prehistoric paintings on the cliff and cave walls on some other islands, such as, Tham Chao Le, Laem Thai Raet, Ko Garose and Laem Fai Mai. Some caves have beautiful stalacties and stalagmites, such as, Tham Hua Kalok Nai (or Tham Bunmak), Tham To Luang and Tham Sua Nok (or Tham thep Nimit).

Hin Phoeng Waterfall is at Ban Hin Phoeng, Tambon Klong Phon, about 25 kms. from Khlong Thorn District office. It is a 3 level waterfall 800 meters high in shady surroundings.

Mu Ko Lanta National Park is comprised of many different-sized islands. Some of them are surrounded by beautiful coral reefs, such as, Ko Ha ,Ko Rok and Ko Hai . The main island in the park is Ko Lanta Yai, where the National Park's office is situated. This is also home to "Chao Le" (or sea gypsies). Visits to Ko Lanta should be made from October to April because there is no monsoon during this period. There are two piers: Bo Muang pier, Amphoe Khlong Thorn, the trip takes about 45 minutes and Chao Fa pier, Amphoe Muang, the trip takes about 2-3 hours.
